Miguel Angel Jimenez holds a one- stroke lead over former champions Tom Watson and Ben Curtis at the British Open, thanks to a long putt on the last hole to tie the lowest first-round score in the history of the tournament.
Jimenez rolled in a 66-foot (20 meter) birdie putt yesterday to finish with a 6-under-par 64 at Turnberry in Scotland. Favorable weather made for low scores on the Ailsa Course as 50 of 156 players shot below par.
