How to Clean Golf Club Grips

Filed under: by: golf clubs showcase

Maintaining your clubs and keeping them in top condition is important. Keeping your grips clean is not difficult, as long as you do it regularly and don't let the grime and gunk build up.

Step 1
Examine your clubs after every round. Are the grips dirty? Are they muddy? Is there excess sand on your sand wedge ? If so, it's time to start cleaning up.
Step 2
Use warm water and a rag or washcloth to get off any excess dirt or other materials. Sometimes warm water is enough to do it. Use a dry rag to dry your club thoroughly before putting it back in your bag.
Step 3
Use warm water and a mild soap solution to clean your golf grips if water alone does not work. Make sure it is a mild soap because you don't want to loosen the glue or grip tape under your grip, and you don't want to affect the finish of your steel or graphite clubs. Rinse off the soap with water and then dry your clubs thoroughly before returning them to your bag.
Step 4
Replace your grips if you have excess glue or cement oozing through the grip. However, you may not have time for that. To remove the excess in a pinch, put solvent on a rag and run it over the excess glue. Rinse with warm water after using the solvent.
Step 5
Clean your golf bag on a regular basis. If your golf bag is not clean, it will put extra dirt and grime on your clubs and grips.
