I bought this club about 2-3 weeks ago and have been having mixed feelings about it. What I have noticed about the R9 is that the shaft is extrordinarily poor. I bought the regular flex and that's what I have on every other wood in my bag. However, the flex on it just feels extremely awkward in the backswing. I wish I would've bought the stiff flex, or even replaced the shaft.
Now thats what I thought bad about the club, but the club isn't all cons, there are many unique features to it that I absolutely LOVE about it.
I wouldn't say it's the easiest club to hit, but let me say, when you get a piece of this club, YOU GET A PIECE OF TAYLORMADE R9 Fairway Wood !! I am easily reaching the green in 2 on the par 5s at my home course. Also even on some par 4s after a lousy tee shots. This club gives you the distance you need added to your game. However, I am finding myself sometimes missing the sweet spot a little bit towards the toe because of the awkward flex of the shaft. And when I miss the sweet spot, I'll be happy if I find my ball! The ball goes rocketing right. My swing is 100 % neutral, I rarely ever go left or right, but this club I have been doubting a bit. I have such a terrible slice when I miss hit the club, I even tried to change the shaft option to 1* closed to promote a slight draw. I found this even worse! It's then either I draw it, or I continuously slice it.
I would defiantly recommend this club to everyone, but i would even more so recommend a shaft change before you leave the store.
Hope you found this helpful.
